Dream a little dream…

I woke this morning slowly. Trying to sweep the cobwebs of a dream out of the corners of my mind.

I take a moment to reflect on the images left swirling around.

A vacation rental in the Sierras. Contemporary home. Lots of wood and stone with picture windows to look out over the mountains. I saw a literal forest  laid out before me. It felt like home.

As I took in the view, the owner of the rental was telling me of all the amenities available for our use, which included a built in pool perched on the side of the mountain.

I looked down and saw a sandstone colored infinity pool just waiting for me to dip a toe into.

As I pondered and planned all the time I was going to spend in this pool - floating around and taking in the sights I saw one thing that was not right.

A large octopus was swimming up and back the length of the pool.

At first I wondered how it got there. It looked happy enough swimming around.

Then fear set in. There was no way I was going to swim with a huge octopus. I was sure it would grab onto me like a kraken taking down a ship.

The owner saw my concern and told me “Don’t worry, Hank won’t bother you.”

Then I woke up.

Looking back on my dream, I realized a couple things.

I saw the forest, not the trees and was not overwhelmed.

Comfort was in the woods.

And I am apparently freaked out by octopuses.
