It's late spring in my hometown.
I can tell by the exploding flora in my yard.
The dreary beige and grey that seemed to have been draped over the world for so long has been replaced by the various shades of green and the pops of color from the flowers.
Fireflies tentatively hover in the back of the yard when the sky turns my favorite color of periwinkle. It's still so early in the season that I can count them on one hand.
A butterfly has flittered past me and the speed-demon dragonfly has zipped past me too.
You can feel summer coming. It's just around the corner trying to push it's way into the forefront.
Right now it's the perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. Meaning = sunny and warm in the day but cool enough to sleep at night.
Summer tries to get it's foot in the door and I believe it will this weekend. Oppressive heat, stifling humidity, and thunderstorms loom on the horizon, literally. Essentially I'm going to be hot and sticky for the next few months.
As I sit outside with my book, my bare feet are wriggling in the wind (because wind on your toes is a wonderful thing).
I love these kinds of days.
